IMBA Canada hires new Trail Care Crew

IMBA Canada welcomes Ontario-natives AJ Strawson and Rachael Raven on board as the second Canadian Trail Care Crew.

IMBA Canada's Trail Care Crew is a two-person team of professional trail builders who travel across the country in a Subaru Outback 6 months a year, teaching land managers and trail users of all stripes about sustainable trail building practices. Renewed for a third season by partners Parks Canada and the Trans Canada Trail, the Trail Care Crew has quickly become IMBA Canada's most popular and successful program.

Rachael and AJ are replacing Chad and Deanne Lazaruk, who wrapped up their two-year term as IMBA Canada Trail Care Crew last month. Starting immediately, Deanne has taken on the role of Trail Care Crew Coordinator and customer service representative. Get in touch with Deanne at deanne.lazaruk[at]

AJ and Rachael have backgrounds in Geographic Information Systems, and communications (respectively), and love everything about trails and two-wheeled adventures. Rachael (B. Jour) has served as IMBA Canada's Communications and Trail Care Crew Coordinator since 2010, while AJ has a degree in Environmental Studies, and certificates in GIS and Sustainable Trails, from Fleming College. The couple loves bikes of all kinds, and are looking forward to spreading IMBA's gospel of trails.

Stay tuned for the 2012 Trail Care Crew calendar, which should be announced in spring!
