Creating a true mountain bike destination takes more than just great trails. It takes dedicated club and group of riders, hard work, time and buy-in from the local community. This could not be truer than in Hinton, Alberta.

Back in 2010, IMBA Canada was contracted by Community Futures Crowsnest Pass to develop a masterplan incorporating the five communities of the Pass:  Coleman, Belleview, Blairmore, Frank & Hillcrest.

As you drive into Hinton, Alberta there are signs along the highway directing you to their mountain bike park and town trails. We blogged about the bike park last year as we made our way out of Jasper National Park. The bike park was built about 3 years ago by builder Jay Hoots and is a definite asset to the town. While they are proud of the park they realize that their cross country trails are not quite up to the same standard.

If you used to read my old blog you may recall a post back in June of 2009 providing brief details on two pump tracks that the Ottawa Valley Mountain Bike Association broke gound on.
