This past Saturday saw a gathering of many of the players that have been involved in the re-development of the Bayview Bike Park. What started as an impromptu workday on a rainy Sunday in the fall of 2011 has evolved into a continued partnership between Youth Unlimited's Revolutions Program and IMBA Canada.  Along the way, bike park building newcomer, Ontario Bike Park Construction, also jumped into the fray taking on the task of building a new pumptrack on the site.

Check out this great video from C-it Productions of the collaboration between the Rotary Club, Village of Radium Hot Springs and IMBA Canada Affiliate Club the Columbia Valley Cycling Society to create a pump track in Radium. After wrapping things up in Riding Mountain National Park, Daniel Scott jumped back on a plane and this time headed to Kincardine, Ontario to work with the Municipality of Kincardine on their local mountain bike park, the Inverhuron Bike Park. IMBA Canada’s goal was to work with the municipal employees in developing a better understanding of risk management through design within the context of their local project.

The good kind of difficulties that is… Earlier this week IMBA Canada was asked to make the trip to Logan Lake, BC. The reason? Jay Hoots, bike park builder extraordinaire, brought IMBA on board to assist with rating the various trails that the town has to offer visitors. Two days were spent inspecting all the trail using a revised version of IMBA’s trail difficulty rating system.

Earlier this month, IMBA Canada joined up with organizers at Camp Fortune for a day of trail building in Gatineau, Quebec. Over 20 volunteers came out on a cool, bright Saturday to help repair cross-country trails and build the first pump track in the National Capital Region.

“A pump track is a really fun thing to ride on, and the skills you learn on it will make you a better trail or downhill rider,” says Mark Schmidt, director and trail specialist for IMBA Canada.
