IMBA Canada announces first of three Land Manager Trainings to take place in Kelowna, BC

April 22, 2016 – IMBA Canada is excited to announce that the first in a series of three Land Manager Training Workshops, sponsored by Shimano Canada, will be taking place in Kelowna, BC on May 19 and 20, 2016. This one and a half day workshop will include both indoor presentations and outdoor field exercises covering various topics related to trails and mountain bicycling. Land managers will learn up-to-date techniques and methods for planning, designing, constructing, maintaining and managing multi-use, non-motorized trails, including mountain bicycle trails.

In addition to reviewing trails best practices, special topics to be covered in Kelowna include: fat biking and winter cycling facilities, working with First Nations communities, and adaptive/accessible trails for mountain biking.

For many land management agencies, quality education on trails and trail based recreation is inaccessible due to limited budgets for travel and training. It is for this reason that IMBA Canada, with the support of Shimano Canada, is facilitating three Land Manager Trails Training Workshops in 2016 -- targeting land management agencies at the federal, provincial, municipal and regional levels. The next training event will take place in Calabogie, ON on June 21 to 22, 2016.

Workshops are open to land management agency staff from all levels government across Canada. For more information or to register, visit imbacanada.com/LMT

IMBA Canada wishes to thank Shimano Canada for their ongoing commitment to the improvement of the sport of mountain bicycling through investment in IMBA Canada’s education programs.
