2011 X-FUSION TRAIL AMBASSADORS ANNOUNCED

Congratulations to Ryan Lindh of Wolfville, NS, and Brad Proctor of Sechelt, BC, who are IMBA Canada’s first-ever X-Fusion Trail Ambassadors!

Made possible by Renegade Cycle Solutions (RCS), the X-Fusion Trail Ambassador Awards seek to recognize advocates across Canada who go ‘above and beyond’ their volunteer roles to give back to the mountain biking and trails communities. Both Eastern and Western Ambassadors will be receiving a 2011 X-Fusion Velvet RL fork from RCS.

With many strong applications, it was extremely difficult to choose one candidate over another. "We could not let it go with just the top two. Therefore we decided to offer the next three candidates a set of Hygia Elite Carbon brakes,” said Brian Kuhn, RCS. A hearty ‘thank you’ to Rod Camposano (Sechelt, BC), John Kessler (Regina, SK), and Morris Martini (Guelph, ON) for their contributions to their communities and local mountain biking scene. Press release.

MOUNTAIN BIKERS IN THE GTA MAKE A DELEGATION TO THE ROUGE PARK ALLIANCE

On September 16th IMBA Canada, along with affiliated clubs, the Durham Mountain Biking Association (DMBA) and the Toronto Off-Road Bicycling Association (TORBA), formed a delegation to the Rouge Park Alliance, the board that governs Canada's largest urban wilderness park, asking that mountain bicycling be put back into the proposed trails master plan. Representatives from the clubs attended numerous open houses about the plan, the last of which revealed the complete removal of mountain biking from all natural surface trails.

The delegation, led by IMBA Canada's Ontario Regional Coordinator, Jason Murray, presented a case for mountain biking, acknowledging challenges and providing solutions for multi-use trail access in the park. Plans are in place by the Conservative Government to turn the Rouge Park into Canada's first urban National Park.
