IMBA WORLD SUMMIT A HUGE SUCCESS

More than 400 mountain bike advocates, IMBA chapter representatives, bike industry partners, and land managers from across the U.S. and all over the world attended all or part of the 6th biennial IMBA World Summit last week in Santa Fe, NM.

IMBA'S TAKE A KID DAY SEES MORE CANADIAN KIDS ON BIKES THAN EVER BEFORE!

Twenty-twelve marked the ninth annual Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day across the world. This year, IMBA Canada affiliates, along with Specialized dealers and Parks Canada sites, hosted over 30 events in a five week period. From Victoria, BC, to Charlottetown, PEI, more than 2,500 kids participated – making 2012 Canada’s most successful year yet! Thank you everyone who participated!

IMBA CANADA PRESENTS LEADERSHIP AWARD TO PARKS CANADA

Parks Canada has been awarded the 2012 IMBA Canada Leadership Award in recognition of it's progressive thinking and commitment to mountain biking.

Executive director Lora Woolner presented the hand-crafted plaque to Parks' Ed Jager, Director of Visitor Experience, and Mark Schmidt, National Trails Analyst, at the World Summit in Santa Fe, NM. + News release

APPLY NOW FOR A TRAIL CARE CREW VISIT

The application process for receiving a visit from the IMBA Canada Trail Care Crew is now open. The deadline for bike clubs, local trail groups, and land management agencies to apply is Friday, Nov. 30. Active organizations should not miss this opportunity to learn about sustainable trail building, club growth, and community trails development. + News release

IMBA AND IMIC ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP

International Mountain Bike Instructor Certifications (IMIC) and IMBA announced at the World Summit that the two organizations are teaming up to offer training for IMBA members interested in learning how to teach a wide range of mountain bike skills clinics. Details are still being worked out, but look for the program to be offered starting in 2013.

2012 MODEL TRAILS ANNOUNCED

At the World Summit, IMBA announced the 2012 Model Trail award winners, including BC's Warner Lake. Each year, IMBA recognizes outstanding mountain bike trails and locations with Model Trail designations, from Flow Country Trails to IMBA Ride Centers. The goal of the program is to inspire and inform so that we all have more great places to ride.  + IMBA U.S. press release


COUCHICHING CONSERVANCY OPEN SPACE FORUM

Attention Copeland Forest riders - if you want mountain bikers to have a voice at the table, then you must attend the Couchiching Conservancy 'Open Space Forum' meeting on Saturday November 3, 2012 from 9 am to 3 pm at the Horseshoe Valley Lodge, Alpine Room. + More info
