IMBA ONTARIO PROGRAM LAUNCHED AT TORONTO BIKE SHOW

It's finally spring! And spring in Ontario means visiting the Toronto International Bicycling Show.

Besides the gorgeous weather, IMBA Canada has had a lot to be excited about this spring – Such as the launch of IMBA Ontario, the announcement of this year's Trailblazing Festival (coming up August 18-19 at Hardwood Ski and Bike), the hiring of new Ontario Coordinator, Igor Hoogendoorn, and the beginnings of a pilot Chapter Program in Ontario.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Show earlier this month – we had a great time visiting with long time members and meeting new supporters! All in all, the weekend was a great success with over $4000 raised, helping us to build more trails in Canada! Blog.

Thanks also to Café Domestique, Canadian Cyclist, Jet Fuel Coffee and La Bicicletta who raised funds at the bike show through espresso sales for IMBA Canada and the Hamilton Cycling Club's trail building efforts in Christie Lake Conservation Area! More info to come...

Since the show last month, IMBA Canada staff have been busy organizing efforts around IMBA Ontario, and planning of this summer's festival. IMBA Canada's executive director, Lora Woolner, spoke at the Guelph Off-Road Bicycling Association's AGM about the need to build capacity and professionalize the mountain bike movement through the Chapter program, and the hiring of full-time provincial staff.

The stars seem to be aligning for mountain biking in Ontario, and right now the opportunities are coming at us faster than we can respond. Please contact us if you'd like to be involved!
