TRAIL SOLUTIONS UPDATE: A BUSY SUMMER FOR IMBA CANADA'S CONSULTING ARM

(Regina, SK) The Wascana Off-Road Hand Cycle Trail system has been approved by Sasketchewan Provincial Parks and construction is underway, with Sustainable Trails Ltd. building under the project management and design vision of IMBA Canada’s Trail Specialist, Daniel Scott. The project is slated to be complete in the early fall.

(Corner Brook, NL) Three weeks of field work have been completed for the Corner Brook Masterplan, resulting in 50km of trail being designed. A draft of the masterplan is currently in the works, which has also opened doors to more potential work in Western Newfoundland. Stay tuned for more on that!

(Georgina, ON) Two weeks ago, Daniel met with Jay Hoots of Hoots Inc., the Sentiers Boréals team, and Bill and Rich of Sustainable Trails Ltd. to finalize the design of the Georgina Bike Park. To date, the “north shore” trail has been designed and building has commenced. Construction on Georgina’s new Recreational Outdoor Campus, which is slated to include pump tracks, dirt jumps, a progressive trail system, along with soccer fields and a splash pad, should wrap up mid-fall.

In the coming weeks, Daniel Scott will be heading to Fundy National Park to commence work designing mountain bike optimized trails in the Park... + More

2011 TRAIL CARE CREW SCHEDULE FULLY BOOKED!

We're happy to report that the remainder of the IMBA Canada Trail Care Crew's 2011 schedule has been confirmed! Chad and Deanne are currently working in Atlantic Canada -- with stops in New Brunswick and Newfoundland -- and will travel back through Quebec and Ontario in September.

The Crew will celebrate Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day October 1-2 in Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, then give workshops in Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park, and in Calgary, AB. Residents of interior BC mark your calendars, because the Crew will be coming to New Denver, Castlegar, and Abbotsford in November. The season will wrap up on BC's coast with visits to North Vancouver, Campbell River and Victoria, BC. Blog.

PLEASE SUPPORT THE TRAIL BUILDING FUND

This year's Trail Building Fund is dedicated to keeping IMBA Canada's Trail Care Crew on the road. Despite massive support from Parks Canada and the Trans Canada Trail, we still need to raise $50,000 to cover program delivery for 2011. Please help us bridge the gap until we can find a title sponsor to ensure the program's future.

Donate $25 or more and get a free Trail Builder's carabiner tape measure. Gifts over $75 receive an IMBA seat pack, by Pedro's!

MUSKOKA'S ANNUAL RACE TO RAISE SUPPORT FOR THE MUSKOKA TRAILS COUNCIL

Corporate supporter Township of Georgian Bay and Muskoka Trails Council are hosting the third annual Muskoka's Amazing Race, this upcoming Saturday, Aug. 13th. "50 teams of two people each will compete and experience all the checkpoints, roadblocks, detours and fast forwards from the hit TV show - with a distinctly Muskoka twist." THANK YOU NEW & RENEWING CORPORATE MEMBERS!

Thanks to the generous donations from these, and other corporate members, IMBA Canada is able to create, enhance, and preserve great trail experiences for mountain bikers across Canada.

Township of Georgian Bay: Located in south-central Ontario, the Township of Georgian Bay is excited to create and connect a network of trails which will link cyclists from Collingwood to Barrie, and back to Muskoka. Georgian Bay also works closely with the Muskoka Trails Council to ensure that the network is consistent, comparative, and connected.
