Connecting at the 27th Annual Toronto International Bike Show

3...2...1...the doors open and IMBA Canada Staff are ready to go!

It’s the annual hussle and bussle of this event that spells springtime for me, one because we get the opportunity to see a great number of likeminded people, the other, because we are passionate about riding bikes and like to see if we can score a few last minute deals before the upcoming season.

Short Hills Cycling Club (SHCC) volunteers answering questions.

Sure, there are some great deals to be found at the various retailers and shiny new models at the manufacturers booths, but for us, it’s all about reconnecting with our members and meeting new ones.

Guelph Off Road Bicycling Association (GORBA) volunteers getting a short break from the masses.

“What does IMBA Canada do?”, was only one of many questions that our staff and volunteers were asked over the 3 days, and yet, the one that sticks in my mind was from a young boy who asked, “how can I help build more trail?”.  It’s moments like these that I take solace in the work that IMBA does worldwide, and can see the benefits of working together to further mountain biking experiences for those young, and young-at-heart.

Thanks to our affiliated club volunteers (GORBA and SHCC), Domestique-Café Cyclo Sportif for the fundraising efforts and stellar coffee, everyone who came by to say hello, and to those that joined us in the goal to keep mountain biking in the forefront of recreation and active living.  Look forward to seeing you out on a trail in 2013!
