IMBA Canada Trail Care Crew leaders AJ Strawson and Rachael Raven wrap up their time on the road and say goodbye!

For the past year and a half, AJ and I have travelled all across the country - visiting all of Canada's beautiful and unique provinces (plus the Yukon!), riding our bikes, building trails, and spreading the word about how mountain biking and singletrack make our communities better places to live.

Throughout the past 6 months on the road, we'd always get a laugh when we told folks that we were wintering in Thunder Bay. Our final visit of the year was December 9th, in balmy Nanaimo, then AJ and I repacked the car one last time and did the four day drive back to Ontario. We're hibernating for the next few months, while we wait for spring and the trail building season to arrive. Meanwhile we have lots of time to catch up on office work, and couch surfing.

Just over a year ago Chad and I embarked on the second leg of our journey as Canada's first Trail Care Crew. We covered a lot of ground in 2012 but were excited and relieved to hang up our boots in December. While we sat around our temporary residence surrounded by boxes of our belongings we opened a bottle of our coveted homemade wine and reflected on our experience as TCC.

This experience shaped us in two distinct ways, as builders and as individuals.
