Last weekend I had the pleasure of taking part in Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day spring edition at Hardwood Hills, ON in conjunction with the Canada Cup taking place that weekend. Even with some inclement weather it was clear to see the fun and stoke written on the kids faces!
This past weekend our Trail Care Crew Coordinator Deanne Lazaruk attended the Sprockids Fun Day in Gibsons, BC. The celebration was organized by students of Capilano University's Mountain Bike Operations Program in honor of Doug Detwiller, the founder of the Sprockids park and program.
Despite the slightly rainy weather over 250 people attended the event. Kids of all ages were out on bikes playing in the skills area and taking in some of the guided rides that the students hosted.
The Prince George Cycling Club (PGCC) was first established over twenty years ago. In the past few years they have worked on gaining access to and formalizing the Pidherny recreation area. The site officially opened in October 2010 to provide recreation opportunities for all non-motorized users. Pidherny is known for its advanced mountain bike trails and for having the only view of Prince George sans pulp mill.
