Manitoba is not exactly the first place that may come to mind for a mountain bike destination, but with the work being done in Riding Mountain National Park and surrounding communities, they are well poised to become just that!

Two weeks ago we hosted our second of three integrated land manager training workshops sponsored by Shimano Canada in Calabogie, ON, which used to boast lift access downhill mountain biking until the mid 2000s.

Two weeks ago we hosted our first of three integrated land manager training workshops sponsored by Shimano Canada in Kelowna, BC. What followed were two days of workshops both in the classroom and in the field, but even more than the information gained were the fantastic connections made and conversations had between various different agencies and partners throughout the visit. The two-day workshop had 12 attendees from many different organizations represented. City of Kelowna, Rec. Sites and Trails BC, Big White and Parks Canada were all represented to name a few.

This past weekend saw our second Trail Care Crew Workshop of the year take place in Chilliwack, BC with the Fraser Valley Mountain Bikers Association (FVMBA).  The workshop saw 12 eager participants with varying degrees of previous build experience attend and all were eager to learn and put in some great work using new techniques learned during the in-class portion.

This past week I had the pleasure to travel to Kouchibouguac National Park for their Fat Bike Week festivities. It was great to see the turnout for such a successful event, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and collaboration from the entire Park staff.

The Kootenay’s offers some of the best mountain biking in BC. With places like Nelson, Kaslo and Retallack to name a few, it is no surprise why many riders flock to the area on a regular basis to enjoy the great riding. Nestled among all those popular zones and ride destinations is the small town of New Denver and the riding there definitely lived up to the standard set for amazing Kootenay riding.

Jasper National Park is arguably one of the most beautiful backdrops you could enjoy in our country. There is no better place to be if you enjoy the outdoors and it was the latest stop for us in our 2015 Trail Care Crew season.

Redcliff, AB is a small community just outside of Medicine Hat. From Highway 1 it might be easy to drive by without even batting an eye, and for us it was our latest stop in our 2015 Trail Care Crew Season to work with the 670 Collective.

Whitecourt, AB was my most recent stop on the 2015 Trail Care Crew schedule and what a stop it was! The WMBA is a very organized club of over 250 members, and what makes them truly unique is that they are able to garner such high membership numbers with no natural surface trail offerings in the area!

Wasagaming, MB and Riding Mountain National Park was our Trail Care Crew visit this past weekend. As much as we were in a national park setting, we were not working with the park staff but the local club, the Dead Ox Trail Blazers, who have trail access to parklands.
